Just as I’m looking forward to getting to know you, I’m happy to share a little bit about myself, in hopes that it helps you make the most well-informed decision about your care. I’m a licensed psychologist practicing in the Eugene/Springfield area, with over a decade of clinical experience. I earned my Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology and School Psychology from Florida State University in 2012 (and hold both an Educational Specialist and Master of Science in Mental Health Counseling from the same institution).

Prior to starting my practice, much of my experience has been in university counseling centers. I completed my doctoral internship at Oregon State University Counseling and Psychological Services, as well as a postdoctoral residency at Pacific University Student Counseling Center. I then spent five years working as a senior staff psychologist at the University of Oregon Counseling Center. Although I enjoy working with people from all walks of life, I will always have a soft spot for college students/emerging adults and this very pivotal time in a person’s life.

My approach to therapy is integrative, which means that I draw from a combination of several different evidence-based approaches, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Interpersonal Process Therapy. Essentially, I use what research tells us is effective with certain concerns to help clients gain awareness of the interaction between their thoughts, feelings, and behavior; recognize the influences that have shaped these patterns; and develop the knowledge and skills to respond, rather than react, to them.

Although I have strong generalist experience and enjoy working with a wide variety of issues, I specialize in working with trauma, anxiety, and disordered eating/body image concerns. I am trained (and working toward certification) in EMDR and love using this highly effective treatment approach to help people move past fear, grief, and painful past experiences. Additionally, I work from a non-dieting, Health At Every Size framework that is affirming of body size diversity. I offer a safe, collaborative space that balances compassion and challenge, within which we can work together to understand the concerns you are experiencing, appreciate how old patterns may have once helped you, and identify new, more effective ways to meet those needs.

More personally, I am now a US citizen but was born in Bangkok, Thailand and am a bi-racial, bi-ethnic person, as well as a child of immigrants. My father was Austrian, and my mother is Thai. I grew up in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and have lived in Thailand and Canada, as well as the United States. When I’m not working, I’m spending time with my husband and children, exploring Oregon via day trips, taking walks, knitting, reading, or watching comfort television (e.g., the Great British Baking Show).
